Evolution
The theory of natural selection explains the evolution of species, not the existence of particular descendants of certain individuals. A species' genetic fitness is measured not only by the genetic fitness of individual members, but by their enhancement of the fitness of other species members who share the same genes. . . . Natural selection would even favor the evolution of certain altruistic tendencies directed to non-related individuals.
